How does it work?

We’ve put together some questions and answers we think might be useful. If you need to know something that isn’t covered here, please give us a call at the shop on 01494 951301) or message us using our social channels (@theecologystore) or send us an email (contact@theecologystore.co.uk).

There are 3 ways to shop with us…

In Person

Come into our lovely store and refill goods into your own containers or use some of
ours. We love to talk about refill so if you are new to the concept we’ll be happy to talk you through it all.

The general approach is weigh your container, fill with product to the amount you
need, bring it to us at the counter and we will take the weight of the container away from the final cost.

If you don’t have containers with you we always have paper bags (to purchase at
5p) and lovely containers to buy. We often have repurposed sterilised containers which you can also take with you.

Click & Collect

Do your online shop and when you get to the checkout page, select click and collect. Make sure you leave us a note in the box telling us if you’ll be dropping off containers otherwise we’ll pack into paper bags and clean donated glass bottles.

When we’ve finished your order we’ll give you a call to let you know its ready to collect. Orders must be collected within 24 hours of notification please.

You can collect 7 days a week.

Delivery

Do your online shop and when you get to the checkout page, select delivery. Make sure you leave us a note in the box if you intend to drop containers off to us, otherwise we’ll use our paper bags and clean glass bottles or other appropriate container.

We aim to deliver in person within 48 hours of all orders. If you require something before then give us a call and we will see if we can make it happen.

We deliver within 10 miles for a flat fee of £5. You can see our delivery radius here. We also ship using Royal Mail 1st or 2nd class – shipping is calculated at checkout.

We deliver Monday to Friday.
You can collect 7 days a week.

What should I bring to use as my containers?

You can bring anything you like so long as it is clean and will go onto the scale to be weighed. Examples are: Bags (paper or plastic), Tupperware, glass jars, bottles (glass or plastic). We’ve had all sorts of inventive things!

What if I am not in when you deliver?

We will call you to tell you your delivery is on its way - if you aren’t going to be in we can leave in a safe place - please make sure this is appropriate if you have included food items, we cannot be responsible for items once they are left in your safe place.

Do you only sell loose food/household goods?

No, we have a wide range of sustainably pre-packaged items as well. You can see this by looking through the Organic Food Hall and Household sections on the website.

Can I buy frozen goods online?

Yes you can, but only as a click and collect. We do not yet have the facilities to keep these items frozen in transit.

I need a larger amount that is shown on the website, can I still order?

The minimum amount that can be ordered online cannot be altered but yes we can go bigger than the maximum! Just give us a call to discuss. If you need a very small amount of something, we would suggest coming into store.

How do you manage allergens?

We take great care to store and package all products in accordance with food hygiene regulations, but please keep in mind that all allergens are present.

Due to the nature of our shop, allergens could be present in the form of airborne particles, dust particles or granules. We aim to prevent cross-contamination but are unable to guarantee this.

Any questions, please get in touch.

Is your shop accessible?

Our door is wheelchair width with a small lip as you go over the threshold. The manoeuvring space around our display table in the centre of the food section is also wheelchair width.

There is a small step up into the household section towards the rear of the store.

Some of our dispensers are higher up or lower than waist height. We will of course assist you with these.
